Placement
Photo taken Monday, September 22, 2008 on the WSU Campus. Name of subject unknown.
I placed the girl there simply because I was talking to a friend and from where I was standing, this is what it looked like. She’s peacefully lying on the grass reading a book. The placement in the bottom corner makes it more interesting to look at, as opposed to if she were placed dead center.
Dividing the Frame
Photo taken Monday, September 22, 2008 on the WSU campus. Man in photo unknown.
I took this picture in during a scheduled class time, so there weren’t a lot of people on campus. I noticed this guy reading and thought it would be an interesting picture. The photo can be divided a few ways. You can include the man reading, or it could be a picture of trees and greenery.
Frame within Frame
Photo taken on Friday, September 19, 2008 in the Black Box Theatre of the Performing Arts Center on Campus. Ethan Jensen is the subject.
This is a simple example of Frame within Frame. The orange banner constitutes as a frame, without which, the subject would blend in with the black wall.

Horizon
Photo was taken from Latsch Island in Wisconsin looking at Winona. The photo was taken Sept. 18, 2008.
I put the horizon toward the top of the photo so you can get an adequate view of the river and Winona.
Filling the Frame
Photo was taken Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 in the Performing Arts Center on campus.
This is an example of over-filling the frame. I took this picture because you don’t usually see clocks like this. If you can’t see the whole clock, it defeats the sole purpose of a clock. You still know it’s a clock, but you don’t know that it’s hanging on a wall in a hallway.
Frame Shape
Photo was taken Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at Lake Winona.
A panoramic view of seagulls flying of Lake Winona. This view creates length and makes you think the seagulls are going somewhere. It gives the picture a big more of a dynamic feel.
Frame Dynamics
Photo was taken Thursday, Sept. 18 behind the Performing Arts Center on campus.
This is an example of diagonal tension. Granted there are only about 4 diagonals, they are there creating dynamic tension in the photo.
